The Purpose:
The Winning Run Foundation is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of publishing athletic-related devotional materials.
The Objectives:
- To produce and distribute athletic-related devotional books, tracts and videos for the evangelization and discipleship of men, women, boys and girls.
- To share Jesus Christ in speaking opportunities at athletic banquests, retreats, church services and other group meetings of all ages.
- To conduct baseball camps and clinics promoting fundamentals of the game in an atmosphere conducive to development of youth.
The Founder:
Dr. Elliot Johnson has coached baseball on the youth league, high school, and college levels. In twenty-seven years as a college head coach, he has compiled a record of 804-414. From 1980-2007, his teams has the ninth best winning percentage in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He coached in seventeen District/Regional Tournaments, winning twelve district, regional or conference titles and one NCCAA National Championship, and consistently reached the national rankings. Coach Johnson has received six Coach of the Year Awards and one Hall of Fame (Chicagoland Collegeiate Athletic Conference). He has coached several All-American and professional ballplayers. He has conducted camps, given private lessons and served as a clinician in various parts of the country.
However, Coach Elliot Johnson is much more than a coach. He is a strong Christian with a desire to see young men and women come to know Christ. In his effort to spread the gospel throughout the various athletics, Coach Johnson has written many books, tracts, and articles to assist athletes in their walk with God.
